Shilpa Rao is a successful playback singer and pop singer of India. Her birth name is Apeksha Rao and she was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on 11 April 1984. It was her father S. V. Rao who introduced her to the world of music and school choir. As a playback singer her recent hits are – Subhanallah of Yeh jawani hai diwani, Manmarziyan of Lootera, Yaariyaan of Cocktail, Allah Maaf Kare of Dezzi boys and Anjaana Anjaani, I Feel Good of Anjana anjani.

Her other hits include - Tosey Naina Lagey of Anwar, Ek luv of Amir, Gupchup of One Two Three, The Train, Sayya re of Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love, Lamha of Pappu can’t dance saala, Allah Maaf Kare of Dezi boys, Jab Main Tumhare Saath Hun of Jodi breakers, Dil Dar-Ba-Dar and Yeh Saali Zindagi of Yeh saali zindagi, Aisi Saaza of Gulal, Jazba of Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Mudhi Mudhi Ittefaq Se of Paa, Dhol Yaara Dhol of Dev D, Ladkhadaaya of That girl in yellow boots, Stranger On The Prowl of Ek Ajnabee, Yeh Pal of No one killed Jessica, Nain Parindey of Lafangey parindey and Dhol Yaara Dhol of Ranjhanaa. Shilpa Rao started her career singing advertising jingles. She debut Bollywood in the year 2006 singing for a couple of movies, Anwar and Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love. Stranger On The Prowl of Ek Ajnabee is one among the first songs of her career as a playback singer. Her voice became popularized through A.R. Rehman’s compositions and her voice is mostly chosen for singing high pitched high knot songs. Ishq shava of Jab tak hain jaan is her most recent hit in A.R.Rehman’s composition. She is a successful pop singer also and her released albums include - Band Called Nine, Teri Aakhein – Saiyaan, Bekaboo of Navya Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal and the Dewarists (Season One) - I Believe.
